the village of dobev is located 7km from písek along road 139 to strakonice. dobev, including the settlements of malé nepodřice, velké nepodřice and oldřichov has a population of 740.
the earliest record of the village comes from 1318 when the owner was a certain mr albery. it is not known when the fort was built. over the course of the centuries, the villages changed hands many times. some of the most important owners include jindřich of švamberk, who joined the village to kestřany.
stories say that the fort was located on the west of the village, where until recently a part of the alleged walls stood. however it is more probable that the fort was located on the northern edge of the village by the lake where a farm now stands, partially surrounded by well-preserved walls.
the small church of st brikcí, originally gothic and dating back to the 14th century, has an interesting presbytery vault. the church, which was renovated in the 18th century, is one of the most remarkable village churches in south bohemia. the remains of an approx. 3000 year old settlement were discovered in the east of the village. in nový dobev in the west, there are some unique examples of late 18th century semi-detached houses.
you can camp at the stašov campsite next to a lake and woods.
