History

It is mentioned until the 13th century in the connection with the Kestřany strongholds. The name of the village is of old Slavonic origin and Kestřany are the onlyvillage of that name in all Bohemia. The academic painter Karel Kupka older liked to live in this village and he is also buried here.
Lhota at Kestřany – the first record from 1360. St. Jan Nepomucký chapel with a small brick belfry was built only in the first third of the 19th century.

Zátaví (earlier Zátava = Za Otaví Behind Aftergrass) – a village with typical south Bohemian estates, the first record in 1332. Some settlements with preserved ancient brick scaffolds are standing in the village. In May 1945 the Zátaví local bridge played an important role – the imaginary demarcation line was leading here.
