History
The oldest records about village Ražice are in the old land registers: “In the year 1490 Ražice belonged to the Hluboké domination and they used to corveé to the Písek castle.” Ražice is deduced from “the village of Ráž people”.

The personal name Ráž appears already before the 16th century. The word “ráž” comes from the old Czech and means a ball.
The ramparts of the medieval golden mines come from the 15th century.
A fortification used to stand at the Ražice Pond where Jaroslav Hašek’s mother came from and he used to spend holidays in his childhood here. Brick folk buildings have stood in the village since the first period of the19th century.
