Manor in Drahonice
The manor in Drahonice was the original property of Adam, the prince of Schwarzenberg. Before, it was a fortress, the siege of magnates from Drahonice. The oldest chronicle of Drahonice states: In Drahonice, the strong fortress used to be, mentioned below, of which the strong tower with deep cellar is preserved, today serving as the storage of prince´s beer from Protivín. Near the tower there is a castle with front to the village green. Before it used to be linked to the tower by the underground corridor and thus created the good fortification.
Battle field near Sudoměř
The memorable battle field is situated approx. 3 km from the municipality Ražice, tightly behind the frontier of the Golden Hill. The battle of Sudoměř, held on the 25th March 1420, was the first important military battle of Hussite wars. The Hussites were persecuted by the royal soldiers and stopped on the dike between the full and empty pond. The royal soldiers tried to reach them through the empty pond but the mud ground sank under the soldiers with heavy equipment. The lightweight Hussites easily overcame them. The royal troops of 2000 riding hoplites were knockout by the Hussites who were only 400. In memory of this famous victory the monument, 16m high, was built here by the sculptor Emanuel J. Kodet in 1925.

In Budičovice, the valuable closed ensemble of buildings is situated, it if from the 19th century and partially from the beginning of 20th century and is declared as the village protected zone (declared on the 22nd September 1995). Chapel and village chapels
Together with Calvary columns you can find 40 of them at the territory of the Golden Hill. Among all we mention the early baroque baldachin chapel of St. Cross near Kestřany from the end of the 17th century that was build, as the legend says, by a French officer to thank for his life saving under the lingerie by local washerwomen when the imperial soldiers was looking for him. We recommend the book of Karel Skalický Chapels, village chapels and Calvary columns of Pootaví” for all interested in minor religious buildings.
