Church of St. Catherine in Kestřany
The originally early gothic church of St. Catherine (rebuilt and enlarged into the cross ground plan in the year 1852) can be admired in Kestřany. Inside you can find the baroque pulpit with plastic reliefs of evangelists, with wooden font, two side altars of St. Joseph and St. John and granitic tombstone of the former hetman of Protivín´s domain.
Church of St. Giles in Heřmaň
The dominant church of St. Giles welcomes the visitors of Heřmaň, being the parish church since 1254. This originally late Norman church is now rebuilt into the baroque one, in the middle of closed cemetery. 6 altar sculptures and the baroque pulpit have the historic as well artistic value. The special three-storied tower of the church, ended by double deflected spire, gives the church as well as the village its specific visual character. The heraldry of Rožmberk is preserved on the outside cemetery wall.
Church of St. Laurence in Putim
The Putim´s church of St. Laurence belongs to the oldest south-bohemian religious buildings. The original Norman church was built in stages and two bodies are its specificity. Every body has its own saddle roof. The church paving covers the relics of Radkovec and Vrabský families, also some priests and teachers are buried here. Till the year 1917 there were 5 bells in the tower, today only one rests, called the St. Andrew, made in Prague in 1553.
You can see here also the stone font, dated from the 15th century. We recommend the visit of the cemetery and ossuary in Putim (in which the bones of the Thirty Years War´s victims are arranged), the grave of Jan Cimbura and the local pastorage.
Church of St. Bricci in Dobev
In Dobev you find one of the most remarkable churches in the South Bohemia - the Church of St. Bricci. It was built as a private chapel of the fortress which was very unusual in its period. The forms of chapel are surprising in the village milieu. The body is covered with late baroque ornamental painting. The original gothic building from the end of 14th century was restored in the year 1881 by J. A. Schwarzenberg.
